Vehicle Replacement Fundraising

The team launched (26th May 2007) a major campaign to raise funds for the replacement of all three vehicles and have set ourselves a target of raising £110,000. The launch event took place in Carlisle and centred around a stretcher lower from the top of the Civic Centre, along with an abseil and a street collection in the city centre. The abseil was open to the public and was a popular part of the day. A local, Carlisle based company Distant Horizons facilitated the abseil on our behalf. Many thanks to them for donating their time and expertise to help.

We would like to replace our vehicles with new Land Rover Defenders and so will be on the look-out for businesses or individuals willing to sponsor the purchase of a modified Land Rover 110 County. Likewise, we would also like to find sponsors for a minibus, modified to meet our needs.

So far, in the fundraising campaign, the Team has received donations from:

Atkinson Builders

Eddie Stobart Ltd

Russell Armer

Samworth Brothers

British Gypsum (with David Bell)

Terex

The Lions Club of Penrith

Thomas Armstrong

AN Other (declined any publicity)

The Vehicle Replacement Fund now stands at £53,000.00
